Hey Dave. We (Iroquois Bass Club) has our next tournament June 11 at Barren. She is welcome to join but must follow procedures on the website www.iroqouisbass.org. We were at Kentucky this last weekend, lot of limits caught, 36lbs to win. Ya'll are blessed with two great lakes.
Sorry Dave, that's June 5. I was looking at Derbytown's schedule. It's also (have) which I edited but it didn't change. But we (has) it anyway.
Check out the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife's website here:

You can pick your lake from the drop down box. That shows all tournaments scheduled with them, whether they are open, and generally have contact info.
There are more tournaments than that, a lot of tournaments don't schedule on their site. You can also call local tackle shops and see if they know of any, generally they will.
I would highly recommend the American Bass Anglers (ABA) Couples Series. My wife and I competed in it one year and had a blast! Met some nice people and it was very relaxed. Only Ky division they have is on KY/Barkley Lake. We would love to fish it more, but it's just a little too far for us to drive with gas being so high now.

Another recommendation would be the USA Bassin' events. They are usually small events and pretty fun to fish. Inexpensive too.

She might be interested in the Lake Cumberland kayak fishing tournament where there is a women's division and awesome prizes and the grand prize a $1400 fishing kayak.

No gas money and maintenance, good and fun workout and a fun group to hang out with.
There are small tournaments fished a couple of times per week on Wilgreen if I remember correctly although I've not fished any of them. There is probably some information on the Wilgreen website...http://wilgreenlakemarina.com/
There is also a guy who is trying to organize some small tournaments on Beaver Lake. I think the thread is listed in the tournament section here on Fishin.com.
