I have a friend with a small pond 1/2 acre pond and he has decided he wants all the fish out so his grandkids can swim in it. He mentioned that he was going to kill them off with some kind of chemical...crazy I know! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I would love to take the fish in a healthy state and have a big ole fish fry. He said he would give me a week or so to clean it out. Any suggestions or advise?

Seine it and throw the cast nets.
You could let me know where it is and I could meet you and help you catch em.
Can you not swim in a pond with fish in it? I've done it a million times and have yet to have a bluegill or bass take me under....

Let him know you can take the fish out but the only real threat he will have is the critters that will come anyway i.e.snappers,snakes,and any other furry critter that likes water. Heck I live in Lagrange PM me.Got a couple ponds in this area that need some fish. Chuck
If he must do it, I have no idea WHY, rig up a homemade shocker with some big batteries. Use a jonboat and shock'em up, you can get most of them this way.
Why doesn't he just teach his kids it's alright to swim with fish, I don't get that at all....
Have him call the KDFWLR.
So, what are the rules pertaining to harvesting from a friends pond??
I'm thinking only the HOMEOWNER can harvest without limits, etc, etc.
I'm suspecting there are some potential game violations here.........AND then can the homeowner get into a stink for not removing them correctly.........
Not being an ASS, I just wonder.

Kill them off with "some kind of chemical" and then let the kids swim in it.
If this was my friend I would be getting him professional help.
