Cool, glad that bait is working for you.

Don't know who turned me onto the red eye shad as I've yet to catch a fresh water fish with it. Although its the only artificial lure I brought with me on my trip to the Gulf Shores area. It really is nailing some fish as the type they are I have no idea? Just a tug on the line is all that matters to me!

I love the red eye shad. I have pretty much abandoned my Bill Lewis Rat'l'trap in favor of the red eye shad. Unlike other lipless cranks, if you like to reel and let it sink or yo-yo, the red eye shad falls in an upright position and shimmies on the way down instead of falling on its side.
Very good bait in certain situations and conditions.
Yeah water conditions this spring have limited my use of it. Brought it with me as I can "chuck" it a long way. Landed a rat red on it before dark throwing it out from the jetties in the ship channel. Well not a ship channel yet its where the boats go out to sea. Other then that I'm in a chair on the beach with a rod and reel in one hand and a cold one in the other fishin the bottom. Don't get much easier than that.
i couldnt catch a bass with these that hasnt ate in 6 months ....except on KY lake...
I prefer the Excaliber for the simple reason of hook quality. the red eye shad has "turrible" hooks!! The excal is really the same bait and has the same action as reported above for the red eye but I don't feel the need to change hooks. The One Knocker is great too!!
Blue n Chrome is tops on ky lake ,after that sexy shad ,my rattletrap however works at same time in same colors.Pointer would be american shad version, they work as well to just expensive.
I have never had hook issues with ANY strike king products. I hear it all the time, but have never personally had a fish get off after i stuck him.
Its getting a little ragged battle scars from teeth. Just wondering how long before eyeballs pop out?
i like throwing it during the summer. once the boat traffic starts i can usually pull a few bass off of deep channel banks. i've had the best luck with char. shad.
Kevin Van Dam changes all the hooks on his Strike King products to Mustads. I've always had issues with strike king factory hooks, if you throw a lipless crank or even a regular crank enough with stock hooks then you'll see what everyone is talking about!
