How do you guys who fish our lakes in the Southern part of the state fish? I've chased panfish my whole life, and we catfish the river quite a bit and do pretty good. My son loves to catch eater size channel cats, and as he's getting in his teenage years, he's starting to lose interest in the outdoors, I've been wanting to get into a good mess of catfish maybe to put the love of sport back. We have been fishing a couple times lately for catfish in woody lakes like Hardy and Patoka, with very little luck. We have been fishing on bottom with various baits, in around 15' of water, near and around stick ups. What do you catfisherman look for?
Fish shallow(1-3ft) after dark, chicken liver is great bait. Look for logs and grass or moss... you will find cats! Patoka is full of um! so is Hardy.
