A river or creek smallmouth in a bad mood are pretty mean. Hybrids are right up there as well. Here are a few more...

Have you ever caught a 4 or 5 foot shark? You had better man up when they make that initial 100 ft run!!!

A 4 to 7 pound Lake El Salto largemouth fights like no other! Their strength is impressive!

Caught several Lake Trout in Yukon, Canada. Took 28 minutes to land and 18 pounder. Great fighting fish for sure. The pike up there are really mean as well!

"Meanest" ... or "hardest pulling" ????

Meanest ... I'd have to go with Snakehead .... LOL !!! (or maybe a Bowfin ??)
Hardest pulling ... that might be a toss up between a Carp & a Yellow Bass.

(we are talking "pound for pound" here, right ??)

    Just MHO, though.

I was gonna go grinnel too.

Toughest in hand might be a squirmy, small fiddler cat. Super sharp spines that ain't been dulled down wriggly all in you hand is a recipe for a finning.

Creek muskies can put up quite a fight on line.

I was thinkin snakehead as the meanest too. I hear Bluefish are evil fish. Fisherman say you can watch their eyes and they are actually looking for an oppurtunity to bite you with those nasty teeth if you slip up. As for pulling strength and making blistering fast runs. The tint little spinner shark is insane in this department. They rarely get bigger than musky but wil pull a man in teh water if he isnt expecting that lazer fast run when its hooked.

Meanest? I once read, "To stare into the eyes of the muskellunge is like staring into the abyss. A place devoid of anything good, where there dwells only pure rage and appetite for blood." Or something to that effect. I had the pleasure of watching a big 50" inch muskie, watch me, his big yellow eye seeming to turn in its socket, daring me to get close enough to sink his teeth in my hand. I have never felt so intimidated by a fish. The fight was absolutely epic, in two feet of water no less, my knees were shaking as I pulled him from the water, and I didn't even catch him.

Pound for Pound, Hands Down, Do I need to say it, SMALLMOUTH BASS!!!!!!!

Never caught a Peacock or Pike, but in Kentucky Waters, I will take a Smallie. A 4lb Smallie in early December will drown all other 4lb fish if you tie their tails together. Hybrid or Bluegill would be next but I Love my SMALLIES
