For those Yak fisherman out there, I want to share my favorite place in the world to camp and fish. Clear Creek State Park, Pa. 500 miles from Shepherdsville, but its worth the drive. The Clarion river is listed as scenic waterway. The river is about 3 times widers than elkorn, but shallow rocky with riffles, some deep water, and clear. Temp this week there is 81 and 61 for highs and lows. A big plus for me. You can camp on the river there, and fish for trout and smallies. There is about 30 miles of awesome fishing. Go early spring for trout, and later for smallmouth.
Nearby is Cook's forest and both have cabin rentals available. Cook's forest cabins are nicer if you rent from Pale Whale, who also rents kayaks and canoes. Awesome place to take family too.
