Live in Lexington and heard that there are tons of nice cats in the river and HUGE carp. Is there a place I can put a boat in that is not close to the Ohio River? Also heard about big muskies in the river but figured that was close to Cave Run. Also is there any bank access to the river? Was thinking about trying it second week in July. Thanks!!

Thanks!! Would a 19 foot boat be too much?? How is the smallmouth fishing there??
Depends on where you go north fork good smallies but lack of a place to put a big boat in.. That river is weird i fished it alot when i lived in cynthiana it just depends on where you fish what youll catch.
Not in Falmouth. Down closer to Cave Run you probably could. Blue Lick, I wouldn't. There are shallow shoals and riffles close to both ramps. Need a small jon boat, cayak or canoe. There is some good smallmouth fishing in and around the riffles and deep holes and rocky bank areas.

You need a smaller boat, there are several boat ramps at the Bluelicks, near Claysville in Robertson county, one on the Southfork in Cynthiana, you can put in the southfork at Berry and Morgan,Main river in Falmouth.
You can get bank access, but most places are privately owned, most people will allow access as long as you respect the priviledge.
Check it out ahead of time. I think a 19 ft boat is more suitable for the Ohio end of the licking.
You need a smaller boat for most of it. Don't want to see you get in trouble and tear up the boat.
Thanks guys!! I think I an going to try the KY River instead for some cats. I know my boat will be O.K. on the river I just dont know it that well.
