    Walleye Fishing Tips

I have been studying walleye fishing for my trip to Michigan. I plan trolling a worm harness with nightcrawlers deep; do some crank baiting into weedline in the morning and evening; and have jigs for minnow and grubs (white and chartreuse primarily).

    Any other hints.

And also which type of weights should I get for my deep fishing:

    Banana
    Slip Bouncers
    Walking weights
    Walleye weight

Should I get painted or unpainted weights or does it really matter?

    Any help appreciated.

I used to fish Canada for Walleye's we fished about 20 ft used a lindy rig with a small floating jig in chartreuse and pink with a night crawler hooked through the nose and did real well. We did a lot better on night crawlers than we did on minnows we fished the minnows on the same rig. If they were real active we jigged 1/4 oz jig head tipped with a minnow. The walking wait we used on the lindy rig was unpainted 1/4 oz occasionally 3/8 oz.

Thank you. That is what I am leaning to buying; though I may buy a couple of the other weights also; which are suppose to be good if you are in rocks.

You doing any trolling? I think I would have to try it for a little while if I was going.

Wally Divers and Reef Runners would most definitely be in my lineup of baits to try. I think about anything will hit a Wally Diver, have caught some monster smallmouth while trolling those for walleye.

    Re: Walleye Fishing Tips

I will be in a Kayak most of the time. The plan is to have a couple of lines out while I am rolling to search for fish and if I have luck then fish those spots awhile until I have to move on. While trolling (rolling) my plan was to use lindy rigs with nightcrawlers and perhaps leeches; running it on the bottom.

I will check into Wally Divers and Reef Runners. I plan to go to Bass Pro this weekend for some gear especially for Walleye fishing.

You may want to look at Deep Tail Dancers while you're there too. Great trolling walleye bait imo. #7's and #9's are always a good bet, and man those #11's will dig deeeep.
Mid summer like this, they'll be deep.
