Hi All-
My brother and I are heading to Hardy in a couple of weeks (8/12-8/13) to fish. Primarily be targeting bass, crappie and blue gill.
Since I have never fished it before (I live in Michigan), I was hoping that some of you may be able to clue me in as to what Hardy will be like this time of year. I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANY SECRET SPOTS, just want to have a good idea what to expect.
I have seen that the standing timber is good for crappie; what about the bass?
Will there be grass and lillies? Do frogs work?
Will they be schooling in the deeper pools? Can we touch them off with drop shots and shakey heads?
What are other patterns that have worked for you guys in August?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated, especially because I am already planning to drop $100-150 just to drive myself down there (5 hrs each way).
Thanks!
Dave

no way id drive 5hrs just to get to hardy.
I would drive right past the Hardy lake exit and go on down to Patoka .....
I would not make a special trip from Michigan to go to Hardy. Your fishing up there is a zillion times better than here. I wouldn't imagine there are any secret spots on this lake...just a couple lucky ones.
I don't know where in Michigan you live, I would drive 5hr the other way and go for smallmouth.
