Dale Hollow action in the heat

It has been a long hot summer and I can't believe I'm not hearing about winter being around the corner and how everyone can't wait...anyway trolling for smallies in Dale has been fantastic this year. Good numbers and even better size. With 2 23 inchers and several 22's it might be the one of the best years for smallies to date for my boat strange as it's been. The thermocline has taken it's time setting up and is now just around 25 ft. Smallies have been coming as deep as 70 ft deep in the brightest points of the day. Spoons still pay off the best w/ deep diving cranks a close second. The water temps have fluctuated widely this summer but seems to have stabilized in the mid upper 80's on the lower end of the lake. I have not seen as many of the summertime skinny smallies from years past and most seem to have some reak girth to them which I see as testimony of the catch and release ethics of Smalljaw'rs.
