I was on the Green River the past two days. I was on the stretch down below Green River Ferry in a 12 foot jon boat. We saw a lot of campers and people canoeing and kayaking.
It sure was pretty on the river this weekend.

Canoe trip through the upper section of the Green River paddled 3 miles under the moonlite Awsomee! Lots of rock bass, ky.'s and the ever popular sma;; mouth. 8 of us on camping trip and everyone was catching some kinda fish. Largest small mouth was around 15 in. Awesome stretch of the Green. And luck was on our side as we had no storm's.

Waters to flat down that stretch for me as if you don't paddle you don't move.
I have canoed the Green a couple of times in the park. We did the Dennison Ferry to Green River Ferry. I want to go down next year and do from Nolin Dam down to its confluence with the Green.
Have run that section many a time. Caught really nice rainbow trout at the confluence. Camping is a little cramped on that run. Believe you have to camp at designated camp sites. On the Green anything in the flood plain is open. When you have 8 guys with boats the large gravel bars on the Green accommodate very well.
Munfordville to Mammoth Cave is a very nice stretch indeed. I haven't done the Green this year and I miss it. Would love to camp near the blue hole one night. I am envious of your trip!

Done that stretch this spring after the flood. Camped at second creek.
No fish to speak of but with the water in the shape it was it was not unexpected. Had to really fight the current upstream from Nolin mouth to the ferry.
Will do Denisons to Houchins this weekend. Plan to bass and catfish a bit.
They allow limb lines and jug lines in the park now. Did set out 2 limb lines and caught two cats. Biggest one came when I baited it with Ivory soap. Read about it and tried it it works. Lost him as I was bringing him in canoe yet he had to be 30" or better. Let us know how you do.
From the Nolin Dam down is a wonderful trip. I have fished these waters for years. Love it. Untile last year I lived about 10 min. from Houchens Farry. If you camp you need to get a permit which was free the last time I camped there. You can pick one up in the park office.
Now from you folks that canoed and camped there just how many snakes did you see along the way? I bet not many.
I've not seen the first snake on any stretch of river I've been on in the park. I've been going down there for quite a while. Nor have I seen any while hiking the trails. Only draw back to the permit is the office doesn't issue them after 5pm central time. From the Nolin Dam down is a wonderful trip. I have fished these waters for years. Love it.
