I knew Babe could play golf and was very accomplished in this sport but had no idea that she was this great of an all-around athlete. She dominated women's golf, made several cuts on the men's PGA Tour, won Gold medals in Track and Field. In July 1932, SHE single handidly competed against 3 teams in a track and field event that had 15, 19, and 22 women. Babe won 5 events outright, tied for first in another and single handily won the track meet for her school against the three other teams. Throw in All American Basketball player, outstanding Baseball player (once hit 6 homeruns in a game) and you have a stud. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1953 and the doctors told her she would never play golf again. 18 months later WEARING A COLOSTOMY BAG UNDER HER SKIRT, she won the Womens US Open by 12 strokes.
