Ran across this video on the $1.00 Walmart Buzz Baits and how to modify them. Went to Walmart, bought 4 and just finished modifying them. Now I believe they are compatible to the $4-5 baits in the stores. My cost to modify was zero, as I already had the plastic beads.
Hope you find it useful.

Yes thats a decent video, the bead keeps it from sliding forward and lets it spin faster or easier.
I generally replace the blade as well as dont like them with holes on one side they wobble a bit more a blade if you have one sitting around that is with one hole each side and one in the center will work even better.
After putting the bead on and the blade back and after rebending the end, crimp the rivet so it stays in place, produces more sound that way as never turning with the blade, without that modification and I do it to all regardless of initial cost they turn with the blade to some degree.
They make more noise and squeal like a rusty hinge when tuned and broke in.
Right now here a buzzbait is great for fall schooling action, with a buck each in them who cares if you wear them out in a season.
