Sauger

We were striper fishing last Friday 9/23 at McAlpine and we did really wel on the hybrids .I also got one nice sauger on the striper bait !

That is a good sign folks to catch one this early .I hope this is a indication that we are in store for a good sauger year!

I was using a 4 inch blue/chrome stick bait and the sauger had the whole bait buried in his mouth .guess he really wanted it

i was fishing the bank next to the hydros saturday morning , 5 hybrids nothing too big but decent, a sauger maybe 8 inches on a rattle trap and the trophies of the day .. two smallies about 10 inches each on a 4 inch grub !!!!!

Awesome !!! Love dem river smallmouth ! I placed some Hybrid pics on the Photo Board if you wanna check the Stripes out we had an excellent day ! Lots of 6-8lb hybrids .I actually kept one to go with the sauger and left about 1/8 inch of meat on the skin side of the fillet and soaked it in saltwater for 5 days and the red meat really came out of the filllet and it was pretty tasty .Not quite as good as the sauger but wasnt bad at all ...
