After spending 3 long HARD days on Barkley and KY lake this past weekend (Oct 7, 8, 9), I've decided I need some lessons
I tried everything......and every bait known to man. We stuck some fish but not very many. Today, we fished shallow, deep, ledges, channel bends, main lake points......and a couple little ponds on the MOON......
WE managed 2 bass, and only a couple bites past that.
Yesterday we did put together a small pattern on North Barkley and managed 12lbs or so......8 or 9 bass total.
Friday was as bad as today........but only on South Barkley.....
Hopefully it gets better. My next trip is the 20th, and I'm playing that one by ear, and may make the call 1-2 days before I go.
After that, I have trips the last weekend in October, and maybe the first 2 weekends in November.
Later,
Geo

You are just spoiled by the great fishing in the BWCA
My dad and i felt the same way, we went down on the 3rd and headed home on the 6th. We crappie fished hard those four days and only cleaned eight fish. We never caught that first crappie on tuesday. Fished everything from 2' to 20' ft of water, our fish we caught came off of brush in 10' to 15' on minnows.
I think we need too. I went crappie fishing two days at nolyn, two more at rough. we had 65 keepers for 4 days. I want that in 2. but I love it.
I must admit I've had bad days up there too, but yea, you're right...........I rarely have 3-4 days in a row that are bad.
On the flip side, I regularly have 100 fish days on KY.......It just was not in the cards this past weekend. The fishing was simply off, and my plans for trying to find them simply didn't pan out.
No biggie.....I will try again.........hopefully soon

Some days you eat bare, and one day the bear will eat you!Me? I'm so mired down in medical trips that I think I may have forgot how to fish!
That bear not only ate me..............well, we will leave THAT alone...
It was a tough trip. I've already cancelled my next one I think, but I will be adding a make up in November........
I'm a gonna open multiple cans of woopass the next time, cause Homey don't play that.......
Hey George...I'll be down there oct 31-nov 6...may shoot ya a PM and get your number....can't hurt to have 2 sets of eyes when the fishing gets that tough
The cold front that went through last Saturday night (Oct.2nd)_along with no wind really made fishing bad at Ky lake last Wed And thursday. I fished on Monday of that week and caught lots of fish. Several on Tuesday, 2 on Wed and 1 on Thursday. Friday the wind blew from south and I caught a bunch again.
All were in water less than 10 ft. Backs of bays.
I'm down in the Paris area until the end of the week and the fishing has been tougher than a two dollar steak. We can find baitfish everywhere but finding the bass is another story. Chasing fish in the backs of creeks is about the only thing really working for us. Maybe if we make a long run south...to Alabama and then we might find some good fishing.
We might try the tailwaters one day, have never done that before. Any advice on where to put in or what to try would be appreciated. We don't care what we catch, just want our lines stretched.
