After seeing the flow steady out at 4,000cfs or so for um-teen weeks the wife and I decided to head down there today. Launched at Kendall and before we made Hatchery creek the wife landed an 18" rainbow. Allright! Flow seemed a little stronger than 4,000 yet we paid it no mind. Added 5 more trout before Indian creek an flow was really beginning to pick up pace. Drifting at around 2 mph. Started dragging in blades of grass and noticing debris starting to get more noticeable. Landed a few more as we rounded Blackfish Creek and it started getting to the point of clearing your lure of leaves or grass after just about every cast. landed 5 more trout around helm's and the wind really started to pick up. Leaves, sticks and grass covering the top of the water. Drifted on down through power lines gravel bars and decided it was over as 9 out of 10 cast got caught up in debris. Fire up the motor to make the 8 mile trip back to dam and had to raise lower unit at least 4 times to clear leaves. They must increased flow. Sure enough they cranked it up about 1,500cfs. causing all that stuff to float. Water murky temps low 60's. Today would have been a very bad day to have a jet motor on the CR. 3 sluice gates open when we got back to ramp. Wish they would complete the dam project yet it will only be a matter of time before it leaks again.
I hate when that happens!!! But thanks for the report.
