    I need a good mechanic

Heys guys I thought I had my lower unit leak solved but I was wrong and now I need a mechanic to do a seal kit in the lower unit of my 89 Johnson 200hp. After calling around it looks like I am looking at between $250-450 for the work. Whats most important to me is that it is done right the first time and I don't have to fool with water in my LU anymore.

Anybody have a good shop they use and trust to do the work right? I am in Louisville so in town is great but I am willing to drive an hour or two if the job will get done correctly.

If you don't mind the drive, call Robbie Sargent at Anglers Outpost Marine in Nicholasville. Great mechanic.

I heard this from a couple guys today at work and one I fish with. With your post that makes 4 guys that said they are a solid shop. I called and they were right in the middle of the prices I had been hearing so looks like this is where I will take it since its so close and has a good reputation with customers. It's just like I have always heard, word of mouth is a powerful advertising tool.

Thanks for all the replies and the PM's. It looks like I have found a solid shop to take it to and they are reasonably priced. Now if we can just get past Xmas I can get this thing to the shop and then get back out on the water before the really cold stuff hits I will be happy

Re: I need a good mechanic

My dad does great work, several on this board have used him. His name is Len Wathen and lives out in Bardstown. Right now he charges $40 an hour but might raise it to $50 after the first of the year. He can be reached at LWathen306@aol.com or at 502-314-9209. If anyone else needs a good reasonable mechanic then give him a shout. He has a dyno and can run your motor on a dyno as well.

I know you have had a solid response from this, but I need to second Geo's recommendation of Rob Embry. Great guy, great mechanic, and very fair.
