    Top water striper bite

    Fellows new to the board looking for you opinions;
    have been fishing lake cumberland for the last 20 years and have noticed a significant decline in the night time surface bite. Want your guys and gals opinions on different lakes that you have had luck on in the spring. I am willing to travel and will fish day or night to get back into the most exciting freshwater fishing i have experienced. Mainly looking for a lake with just a shad forage base. Thanks for your opinions and good fishing.

    Might want to try Barren for the Hybrids. Same pattern, and a big hybrid puts up even a better fight that a modest pure Striper.

    I agree with the others. Been going to Barren for about 15 years for them hybrids and if you hit it just right, you'll fill the boat up. It's as fun as it gets for topwater in the spring. Magic water temp for those hybrids is 57-58. Can't hardly wait for April!

    Barren...Barren...and Barren! When the water temps hit that magical range...its on! Both fall and winter. The fishing Gods smiled upon me right before the big move out West this fall with some of the BEST topwater hybrid action I have ever experienced @ Barren! And these weren't your average hybrids either...they were HUGE! I'm talking 8-10+lbers, all on top...I still have dreams about it...almost makes me want to move back to KY!

    Been catching hybrids for years in barren. Last year started hitting the big boys in the second week of march. Follow the seagulls when they are feeding and water starts in the fifties. Had several occasions of two 8-12 pounders on at the same time trolling cranks.

    Does Barren have a night time spawn of Alewives? If so those hybrids will be on 'em!

    Don't let Mooseknuckle fool ya...he runs a guide service! If he can't put you on those hybrids...he is good for flatheads, gar, drum and the occasional spoonbill. And by the way he catches em all his prized "shake!"
