    Leech patterns

Anybody tied them? Fished them? Looking at tying some up for my Boundary Waters trip this summer.

Kenneth, do you have the recipe? We tied it last Feb. at DCFF and I remember it was very simple, but I can't remember the materials.

Thanks man, I feel like to total fool. I have been to the club's web site three or four times looking for this pattern and couldn't find it.

    Thanks again

    Re: Leech patterns

I have tied bunny streamers in the past using rabbit hair. Patterns are real simple and the finished flies look close to realistic under the water. Google "rabbit streamer patterns" and you should find plenty of ideas. I use black rabit hair and have had fair success on the Cumberland using this pattern. If you use a cone head, the weight will keep that head of the fly down and allow for some nice tail action that mimics a leech in the water. Here's a link to a page that shows a nice variation of what I talking about, good luck!-

I tie the same pattern but on a 1/64oz jig. Just the black rabbit hairs and a couple strands of krystal flash for the tail (using the hair on the hide would make it to heavy), black mohair for the body and RED THREAD for a collar. We call it the "dog flea flY with the jump removed", ( you can get um at Bills hardware down in Cumberland). Thanks to my Bud D.T. for naming this and the yuks and fun. We never hurt nobody just sent a blow rod off shaking his head after we caught a few fish more than him. No joke this is a good pattern..trout, smallies, and gills., I like it under an indicator.
