Re: Football stars suing the NFL

QB's protected like they are 5 year old Brownie Girl Scouts, any tackle made above the letters is questionable, head to head contact - even if the offensive player lowers his head and instigates equal amounts of contact- is a personal foul on the Defensive player and subject to a league fine and now guys that retired YEARS ago are bringing lawsuits. So when Dorrsett played the medical profession could diagnose concussions like today. When Dorrsett played the medical profession knew long term effects of head injuries. What a joke. If you don't want to burn your hand don't touch the glowing red burner on the stove. If you don't want to take a chance on a head injury then don't play football where 250-300 lb men are strong as an ox and run like a deer. Last I checked, if a 250lb Linebacker who runs a 4.5 - 40 hits you head on at full speed while you Tony Dorrsett is running full speed at him and you LIVE, you should thank every equipment company and team doctor from the bottom of your heart. If this keeps up the NFL will stand for National Flag-Football League.

You're right. Everybody who plays professional football goes into it knowing exactly what all the risks are, and besides, they're all going to be millionaires, set for life, so if their brains are jelly when they're done, too bad. The entertainment value of those wicked hits is more important than the players long term health. Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is just a term they made up so they could sue people and get even richer.

That is like me suing because I get in a fight at work. Or a plumber suing because he got wet. I will trade with them any day of the week.
