Smallmouth are generally still pretty active in cold water. I went out on the river a couple weeks ago and got a few bites, but a cold front had just moved through. If you get some consistent weather I would think you could catch them.

You can catch them right now. The water has been a little low, which makes it tough, but you should do well on anything small and fished slowly. If you call this number (502) 942-5052 it is a recorded message that gives you trail info and creek levels and fishing info.
Man just out of curiosity I stuck a thermometer in the river this afternoon. Nolin river 52 miles above wax water temp 46 dg. Waters are warming up if they ever got cold to begin with? I'd go for it. Wouldn't call it fishin if you was cathin all the time. Read that somewhere.
