Kory Barnett Senior Night Poem
As I ran out of the tunnel onto the court,
My last game in the greatest venue in all of sport,
I remininesce of all the blood, sweat, and tears,
And beating the number one Wildcats amongst all the cheers.
As a senior, the wins over Kentucky and Purdue definitely top off the list,
What's even better is a national championship banner in Lafayette, just doesn't exist.
Although I passed up many opportunities to leave early for the NBA,
It was worth it just being a bench mob player each and every day.
Some of you may ask yourself "just what is bench mob?"
It's hard to explain, hard to describe, but it's my job.
Bench mob is voice-losing, arm-waving, 3D goggle-wearing, total chaos.
It's holding each other back after Jordy lays down some hot sauce.
Bench mob is a way of life and I'm blessed to have been a part of it,
But the foundation is set, the torch will be past, and it will be time for me to sit.
As a senior, I've seen many nicknames come my way.
From "agent zero" to "human victory cigar" change day to day.
But alas I've talked to the doctor and he has informed me that it is the best time for the human victory cigar to retire.
For all the smoke from all the victories and banners to come will surely set your lungs on fire.
I may go out to the real world and be a coach, a writer, or maybe even a producer,
But I can tell you this, no matter where I go, no matter what I do,
I'll always be a Hoosier.
Thanks for sharing! Love the line about no titles hanging in Lafayette
