Give this a try. It works great.
Remember catch and release.
Back when I was using live bait I caught 22 bass from a farm pond one morning. Several took the hook deep and I used my clippers and cut the line. Went back that evening and caught two of them still feeding with the hook in the gullet. The hook was probably gone from their acids in a short time.
Another time my father in law caught a nice eater size Northern that I cleaned for him. I always check the stomach contents and there were the remains of two old hooks pretty well eaten away. Acid must have cut them off and the rest went into the stomach. That fish was healthy as could be.
