"That fish was was 10 pounds when I hooked him! He just lost a lot of weight on the fight in."
-Rico
My version of this:
Partner: Hmmmm, that fish looks like it might have Tucloseta disease...
Me: What's that, never heard of it?
Partner: His head is too close ta it's tail.
Another one of my favorites, when holding up a nice fish for someone to admire:
Friend: "Nice fish! Where'd ya catch it"?
Me: <puts finger in mouth like a fishhook> "Right here!"
My all-time favorite from Patrick F. McManus:
"Scholars have long known that fishing turns men into philosophers. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to buy decent tackle on a philosophers salary. I have always thought it would be better if fishing turned men into Wall Street bankers, but that is not the case. Its philosophers or nothing."
Can't catch fish sitting on the couch
Shouldda been here yesterday/last week
Beats a sharp stick in the eye
Barbless so your guide is catch and release
My old fishing partner had 2 quotes that he used quite often:
) if you're not losing hooks, you're not fishing deep enough.
) Did you come to eat or fish?
I've always liked this one:
"There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot." -Steven Wright
the easiest way to have a million dollars in the bank being a proffessional fisherman is to start off with 2 MILLION DOLLARS !

As I'm setting the hook.. "There he is!" Almost impossible for me not to say.
"Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods."
quote from the movie "Jaws"
I got one or two that I use first is "big bait catches big fish" and second is "if your not hung up you ain't close enough "
