    Re: Favorite Fishing Quotations

I'm always telling my boy when he's got a big one on such seems to happen more and more every time we find now. " just play it just play it I'm getting the net" at the same time he's telling me "daddy daddy its a good one get the net". I thought once I got older I would pass the net man duties to my son like I had to do when u was a kid. I guess I can just quit my job and become a professional net man.........lol.....

"Jumbo go away" by Frank Zappa. It's three things, not two.

Another Papaw classic: Just before he makes a cast to a log with his Zebco 33 and a Rapala tied on. "watch this".

My Dad everytime I hooked a nice fish, "Jerk the gills out of him!" followed by "reel reel reel keep the pressure on him" and finally "Sling him in boat sweetpea" I love you Dad.

My dad said the same thing to me all the time

I find it ironic that I tell the kids the same thing that my father told me. Don't horse him in! I took my younger cousin fishing with me up at Patoka years ago. He hooked into a nice 3 or 4 lb lm bass and was trying to reel him in fast and I yelled at him, Don't Horse him in"! He lost the fish and never forgot that I said to him. He was really dejected at losing that bass.

Ironic that in todays leading Bass Tournaments that practically jerk them into the boat and you see the bass flying though the air these days. My how times have changed. And yet back in those days we used braided line too. All these young kids think that braided line is something new? Heck when I started bass fishing all the line was braided and we had not seen any monofilament line yet. CA 1958.
