I like this one as well. Also "everyone must believe in something. I believe I'll go fishing" not sure who said it.

When I was a young boy I went fishing with my best friend and his dad . It was my first time fishing with robs dad , every thing that could go wrong did and his dad laughed at me until he cried . When he finaly got his breth he said boy you couldn't catch a fish if you were standing waste deep in ape Sh*t .. I guess he felt sorry for me because he took me fishing on almost every trip him and robby went on. R.I.P Ned AKA pops you are missed..

My step dad to my mother while he's trying to get her hook un-snagged for the 50th time:

You could get hung in the Wal Mart parking lot.

Here is a couple of mine

I have yet to catch a fish at 60 mph

Running and gunning in a tournament is like buying a powerball ticket, you have a chance of winning but the odds are about the same

It's not how fast you get there, it is what you do after you get there that counts

Did I put the plug in?

    I fish because I can

Question from prospective client: " If I book with you, how many 5lb bass can you guarantee me?"

Answer: " What day was that you wanted, sorry I am already booked that day, here is the number for another guide" or "If I could guantee a 5lb bass every day they would already have built a statue of me on Ky Dam"

"Well, the Captain is here now, you fish can start biting anytime your ready"

    "Depth is a relative term"

If I wanted to make a lot of money I would not be a guide

If you fish don't eat pretty soon your going to starve to death

I have lost every arguement I have ever had with a bass

Here are two my wife says I blurt out in my sleep at night: "Slow Down" "Set the Hook"

Here is one that has gotten me in trouble a couple of times: "You set the hook like a little girl"

To those that pull up on top of me and won't look at me: "Would you like to fish out of my boat?"

I could think of a lot more if I took a few more minutes but got to go!

    Dave

The more I learn about how to catch fish, the later I sleep.

This is one I've been saying for years: "There's a lot of gimmicks in fishing, but there's no gimmick to a sharp hook". I think this one came to me right after Roland Martin's Helicopter lure was released.

I did a google search for a quote to see if it was original. To my amazement this thread was the only hit.

I thought the thread worth resurrecting and see if there are any more good ones out there.

I had an uncle who said "Wind from the west, fishing the best; wind from the east, fishing the least"...maybe had something to do with low pressure systems.

My mantra lately has been "you gotta want it"..it's what I say when all else fails and patience is the only strategy.

Don't know if it's an old saying but in my observation of the river I've always said " If baits hard fishing is easy, if baits easy fishing is hard.
