Dark red and black has worked for me

I've not heard of many people throwing crank basis after dark. With that said what its your experience with this tactic? What colors would you throw, dark colors or match the bait fish? deep divers, mid depth, or shallow? Added spinner baits to my night fishing last summer and thought about adding cranks this year. Thanks in advance.
Dark red and black has worked for me
I've used dark colors especially in water that isn't real clear, Highland resorvoirs that tend to be very clear, I have a Pearl and Bone color I like very well and have done very good on those. It's a selective time of the year for me usually when this works, early summer is best. However I've had good success in Fall doing this before as well. Don't be afraid to throw and bump the bottom and slowly wind the handle, don't fish it to fast.
Bandit makes some really good night colors like black/blue, black/chart and black and bubble gum, pick one up and give it a sling.
I have found that smallies love to hit a crankbait early in the summer at night. Later they are just too deep in the water columb and the jig or drop spinnerbait is the ticket. A steady retrieve seems the best to allow them to hone in on the bait easier.
A black jitterbug can be your best friend while night-time bass fishing.
My favorite night crank bait is a "stop light red" craw pattern Bomber model 7A.
I can put money on it. (and have). Use a steady retrieve without the daytime stop and go. The Bomber has a one knock type device in it that gives the nice constant noise that they can home in on.
Love a J Bug, I pulled 4 keepers out last night on a black one...of course I was in a farm pond and don't usually have near the luck as I do on the lake...oh well it was a blast watching them come up out of the darkness and attack that bait. It makes the best noise of any lure when you real it just slow enough to make it chug. Did I mention I love Jitterbugs.
