No telling what you'll find in there. I'm surprised there hasn't been many goldfish sightings.

I've fished there two or three times this year in a little jon boat...I wouldn't fish it at all if it weren't so close to my house.

The creek that feeds the lake more than likey has a population of gar. I`m sure they find their way into the lake. KB1

The creek that feeds it is Pennsylvania Run. It doenst have enough water in it to really support any fish... including gar. If there is a Gar in that lake it was put there by somebody.

In my humble opinion, McNeely is a complete waste of time to fish. It is also known as an area for high volumes of drug trafficking, so if you walk through the woods back towards the dam, make sure you pay attention to who/what is around you. But like I said,I wouldn't waste any time there. I don't think the amount of time you would have to invest would be worth it, even if you caught a fish there.

The last time I heard the DNR did a shock test report on that lake,
they reported that it had a higher than average population
of bass over 15" and rated McNeely and Guist Creek lake "Excellent"
    for bass.
That's a higher rating than most all of the major lakes in KY.
    (surprising isn't it)

I read this before also, and would bet everything I own that McNeely is NOT excellent for bass. I take excellent to mean I can go out on a given day and take someone with know fishing experience and they should be able to catch fish.

I believe that. Also lots of fornication going on apparently...evidenced by wrappers scattered about on the trails; I don't quite understand that one.

There are quite a few bluegill in there, and supposedly some redears but I have yet to hear of anyone catching those.

All the bass I've caught out of there have been about 10" or less, so I guess it's a good population but with a small average size. A weightless Senko is about the only reliable bait I've found for that pond, it has produced at least one bass for me each time, especially when worked in the grass during summer.

No redear and no good bluegill. I would advise everyone to stay off the water at McNeely! Particularly in May.
