Nice fish and good job getting him in! Did you get him in a lake or river ?

I caught and released my first muskie from a kayak this evening. He was 38 inches long and came very close to turning me over in the kayak before I could get him over to some shallow water. I had been throwing homemade inline spinners and decided to switch to a glide bait. He swirled on my glide bait and then nailed it. I nearly broke my rod trying to get a good hook set. He jumped out of the water 3 times before I could get control of him and get him over to my yak. From now on, I will be mindful of the proximity of shallow water to where I am in my kayak so I can get to it quickly when I hang into a muskie. I now believe that they could turn you over in a kayak easier than I originally thought they could.
The fight with this fish had me shaking for about 20 minutes.
Anyway, I was by myself, so my pictures aren't all that good:

Thats a nice fish. When i caught my 1st bass i was hooked on kayak fishing & have way more fun now.Its been slow this summer because of low water.

I would love to catch a Musky from my kayak. I have no doubt they could potentially turn you over, though.
By the way, I didn't know that Garth Brooks was a member of fishin.com
