I was up there this evening and caught quite a few of them. But to answear your question, the bluegill get attacked by every predator in that lake. Bass and catfish love em.

I have been catching bluegill like crazy all the way up to last week. I catch them at waverly lake in louisville. Use them for bait. But last week they seemed to have disappeared. I managed to catch about 12 in 3 evenings of fishing. They were all on the small size. So this time of the year where did the big ones go. Been using meal worms and night crawlers should I change bait try deeper. I am just at a lost of where they went. Use to go there in about an hour could catch limit of 15 now you can fish for 3 hours and maybe catch 4 or 5 and they are way to small

They are the next to bottom (shad) of food chain.
I use a drop shot rig by tying my hook about a foot above a split shot sinker. Bounce the bottom until you find some. The little ones stay shallow, the bigger ones hide. Meal worms are great, so are small tube jigs, crickets, or red worms.
If they are not on the bottom, they should be, try a slip float and adjust depth until you find them.
Currently in my home lake they are suspended 4-6' deep in 15' of water near structure.

what were you using for bait? I have been using night crawlers and meal worms
I have to agree with the others. The gills are always close to the bottom. Right now they may be a bit deeper than normal.
