What a beast!!!!!! Kudos to the guy for releasing it!

Does anyone have a guess as to how old that fish might have been?

Now we know why some people go under the water while swimming in the Ohio River

If one of these grabbed you by the foot it could drag you under the water easily.

I finally got all three pictures above to work for me. That's one huge catfish. I don't swim in the Ohio River anymore and this is just one of the reasons. Did you know that Bull Sharks have swam up the Mississippi River for hundreds of miles? They could easily be swimming in the Ohio River by Evansville, IN or Newburgh, IN. I hate it that sharks can live and survive in fresh waters. Beside the Ohio River is full of chemicals and human feces.

I had a cousin who was an engineer/underwater welder on one of the Ohio River locks, not sure which one though. He got killed back in the early 80's while trying to repair some welds/structural areas under water, it actually caved in on him. Anyway, he used to tell the family about fish this size that were down there on the very bottom around those locks. He said they were well over one hundred pounds, this is exactly the types of fish he was talking about. He said it was scary to be around those big fish down there and this guy was the ultimate man's man, toughguy.

I would say lots of anglers probably hook up with these size fish but simply lose them. If you're using 50 or 60lb mono out there, which is a popular choice, these bruisers of 100lbs + would easily pop that line. I'd like to know what kind of reel/pole/line setup the ole boy had. He had to play that fish out just right or it's no dice, he loses him. This guy's a MASTER ANGLER!

Is this a joke? I saw those pics a couple years ago?

Definitely a monster and probably the world record at the time. Probably over 120 lbs.

Dang it… I hadn't seen it before but figured if it had been around, someone would come forward eventually.
    Was hoping it was real

Those pics were made famous on the web years ago. I'll find the REAL story and post it.
