Bank fishing public access for Herrington lake?

I live in Lexington and heard a lot about Herrington hybrid and white bass spring run into Dix river. I do not have a boat and want to do some fishing in Herington lake after white bass run. All land surrounding the lake is private property. Anybody knows any places around the lake can have a public bank fishing access (no need to pay and no trespassing)? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Dix River Access

The KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife have the Volunteer Access Program where landowners can lease the property to KY F&W for public access. Go to their website and look up where to fish. Find the VPAs and look for the Dix River access on Rankins Bottom. It is supposedly the best place to fish when the white/hybrids are making their run. I also think it is the only free to the public bank fishing location on the entire lake. Good Luck

There are a few highways that cross the Dix river upstream of Bryant's camp. Generally you can access the dix there. Be respectful. Pick up your trash and a little extra. You can float it with a Jon boat or wade.

Thanks a lot for the info. Look like highway 152 should be a good place to try.
