    Getting into Tournament Fishing

Just curious on what the usual steps are to get into tournament fishing. I'm 17 years old, love to bass fish and usually go about everyday during the summer out on Herrington (we have a boat down there). I've never been in a tournament before but always thought it sounded like fun. Could someone point me in the right direction on this matter?

    Thanks,
    Nate

Find a local bass club, join it, and do your best to learn from it's members for a few years. Most bass clubs have their own tournament schedule and allow co-angers to join. You can learn a lot from others while fishing with them in the club's tournaments. Once you are comfortable with the process, you can get into some opens. Question about bass clubs in your area on the boards here. Someone may offer something.

Look at usabassin.com. These are fairly small for the most part and are very well run. They have lots of different divisions and a couple that are real close to you. Membership and entry fees are small also. This is we're I cut my teeth and learned a lot while I fished them.
