Well my good friend called me this morning and gave me the report on the Patoka Lake Crappie. They are bitting. He said he caught some nice big ones yesterday.
Look for the warmest water you can find and fish the shallow waters near the bank along the creek channels.
The fish are in pre-spawn mode right now. Check from the Mouth of the Creeks to the back end of the creek and you will find them.
The problem is that with all this rain it may drop the water temperatures down a few degrees. And this week it's going to be colder. Yesterday it was up into the upper 70's and low 80's during the day. So the surface water and the top 1 ft of water warmed up a bit.
Next Sunday it's going to warm back up into the 70's again. So next week should be good too.
He said that there were a lot of little crappie hitting his baits but not getting hooked. So the little crappie are hungry too.
