Congrats to you. If that is your biggest so far, it is your trophy. You can't worry about what others pull in. Keep at t, and they will continue to get bigger.
Again, congrats to you!!!

I'm not a very good fisherman. So for me, even catching a bluegill is fun and a big deal! But today I caught my biggest bass ever at Lusby Lake in Georgetown. And to make it even more awesome it was with my baitcaster, which I have admittedly struggled to use.
I have fished Lusby Lake (and the Scott County Park lake) quite a few times and have little success at either. But today I tried a new strategy and fished a section of Lusby Lake where I could easily cast into what I presume is the deepest part of this little lake. Mainly to avoid all the algae or moss (whatever it is). At first I tried some small inline spinners on ultralight tackle, hoping to catch a bluegill or a trout. No luck. So I figured I would then practice the baitcaster before it got dark. I did not anticipate catching a single thing. But regardless, I Texas rigged a 7" Berkley power worm (tequila sunrise color) on a 2/0 Gamakatsu EWG with a small bullet weight. First cast was a mess and I birdsnested the whole thing. Took me a couple of minutes to fix that. But I didn't get discouraged. Second cast, birdsnested it again! Worked on fixing it again and then checked the brakes on my Shimano Caenan. They were all off for some reason. So I put all but two on and then cast again and success! Right where I wanted it and no birdsnest! I then made several more casts and made some subtle changes to my retrieve each time, altering speed, etc. Made another cast, began a slow retrieve and BAM! Something big hit it! Except I had forgotten to adjust the drag on my baitcaster! The drag was far too tight. But I managed to set the hook and reel the big ol' fish in. And it was a beautiful largemouth bass. Biggest I've ever caught by far. Now, this fish may pale in comparison to some of the bass you guys pull out of the water but I was ecstatic (and still am)!
Here are a few photos I took with my camera:

Dude I totally feel your excitement.
This is my second year of fishing, and man I caught a nice bass today and my adrenalin was pumping and much like you I'm still ecstatic. I'm showing random people my picture....
Very nice catch my friend and it sounds like you might have the bug bad.....as do I....
Thanks guys!
Tried to replicate yesterday's success today. No such luck. Tried everything I had, from all kinds of soft plastics to inline spinners. Still though, it was a beautiful evening and I got some good practice. Lots of people out too.
Nice fish!!!!!
