Those are cool looking painted crank baits. I discovered some old Balsa Wood Bomber and Coach Dog water dog bombers that need some painting and a few need a new screw to hold in the treble hook on the back end.

How do you do that type of painting on a crank bait. Those are just beautiful. I just want to paint the base of my bomber white and then add some brown spots and bars to make it look like it did when it was new back in the 1960's.

My dad took the original paint off them and never got around to painting them. He's gone now as he passed away in 2001 one week before 911. He loved to fish and spent all his spare time in the winter working on his fishing gear.

That armored craw is just the best!
i have to ask....have you noticed better catch rates? Same? Worse??? Not being a smart-azz just wondering. Thanks.

Thanks Don, to answer the question as best I can: I have seen an increase in my personal fishing because I have been able to match the baitfish a little better than stock, with that said I have now painted a few patterns that "if" they are biting a crankbait then they will catch them I have no doubt. I also have been fortunate enough to have been painting for some pro's and have spent a good deal of time talking with "the king of crankbaits fishing" David Fritts and it opened my eyes to a few things in regards to paint schemes and bait requirements. In fact he told me 98% of the time he does not throw a bait with rattles he told me "the hooks make more noise than you think".

And Ryan, I'll send you a PM
