Default Catfish ?'s

My work schedule may allow for some fishing time in Nov/Dec and I am plan to look for catfish on the Ohio. Looking for some general info. I do a lot of drifting/jugging in the warmer months and am curious at what water temp I should quit drifting and start anchoring. At what temp do the cats start moving to their wintering holes? I will be fishing from the Leavenworth area up to the McAlpine dam. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Joe

The big cats around Evansville and Newburgh have already started moving to deep holes. I go for the deepest holes I know of for them. Drop right in on them and wait. You'll be able to see them really close or on the bottom with your fish finder. But they won't always bite if at all during the winter imo. Seems they really slow down. I usually switch to aged shrimp, stink baits or rotten cut bait the colder it gets. If you can find a deep hole within 100' feet of the lock wall go with that. Also any warm water discharge usually has a ditch that the water has created. They also hold bait fish and some fat cats will sit right there. Stay away from the current as much as possible. The less current the better. Hope this helps.
