    Bowfin/Pickerel fishing

I've never caught either of these fish before, or seek anyone catch them for that matter. Does anyone know places where I could catch either of these fish? I know you can find them over in the western part of the state, but I'm in Lexington, and I'd prefer not to drive too far (<2 hours). Thanks!

I don't know anywhere in Central KY known for either one.

One of the state records for pickerel was caught in far Western KY - Carlisle County.

The other was caught in a creek in Bullitt County.

Both were caught in the 80s, though.

The Bowfin record was caught in Green River in 1999, but I'm pretty sure I've seen an episode of Ky Afield where they were catching them out in those sloughs in far Western KY near the Mississippi river.

There is some info in the Fish ID Guide from KDFWR: http://fw.ky.gov/More/Documents/kyfishid[1].pdf

Yeah I know they're not in central Kentucky, just was curious to see how far west I'd have to drive to catch them lol. I know that the grass pickerel can be found in creeks near Louisville, but I'm not too familiar with that area, does anyone know which creeks would hold them?
