    Where are the Americans

I am production manager at a construction based business that pays well over MW to start and with experience much more than that. Also they can advance quickly on pay scale on benefits but I have no applicants. I haven't had 10 American's apply here for work over the last five years and that is not a joke.

In fact I can't even seem to find Mexicans anymore. Where are all these people that are out of work and need a job so bad....Where are they????

Don't know what your company pays but anything under 13 dollars or so and an employee would qualify for food stamps if they had two kids........ Around here 15 dollar an hour jobs don't seem to be hard to fill.... was talking to a fella the other day who worked for a temp staffing agency and he was whining about not being able to fill 9 dollar an hour jobs, pay a decent wage, ... Its not always the people, if you are working 40 hours a week and feeding your kids with food stamps its saying something about wages and not necessarily about the work force... Look at where the wealth of the country has went in the last 20 or 30 years and you will see why the work force has become what it is.. And for those whose first thought is 'cut out food stamps' you likely don't make low enough wages to qualify for them an don't have to choose between food and heat...

What would you suggest.... better wages or fewer benefits?,,,, benefits disappear as wages get better... If you can afford food you don't get food stamps...

Dude you are a flaming liberal and don't get cost versus labor. To compete in todays market not everybody can make 20 dollars an hour for labor and then sell a product that people can afford to buy or compete with competitors on.

But you being the occupy Wall street genre and think that McDonald's employess should make 15 to 20 bucks an hour I can't imagine I would ever make you understand. It's all about the feel good with you liberals, the birds are always singing the sun is always shining and everybody makes 50 grand a year or else they are getting cheated by THE MAN.

Gawd I wish I could at least visit that frickin magic place you liberals live in your minds it must be special.

Hasn't been a long time ago I was hearing "don't take low paying jobs"... now people are doing that and and the business world is whining because they can't fill food stamp jobs... We need more of that, if businesses have to pay better wages to get people to work for them then were are all better off for it.. You don't agree the country would be in better shape if people earned enough to take care of themselves and didn't qualify for food stamps?

We need more of that, if businesses have to pay better wages to get people to work for them then were are all better off for it.. You don't agree the countrWild Pigs....

There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class.

One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter.

The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime. In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.

He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free food.

"When they are use to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are use to coming. When they get use to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

"They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.

"The pigs, which are use to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

“Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so use to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity."

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare entitlements, medicine, drugs, etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.

One should always remember two truths: There is no such thing as a free lunch, and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. If you see that all of this wonderful government "help" is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America.

GOD help us all when the gate slams shut!

"The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are now outnumbered by those who don't."

Nice story, I have actually read the fairy tale before........
I guess that means you don't have a problem with hunger in this country, we do a good job preventing that as it is now but if you guys here had your way we would be a country wallowing in it.....

The chart below is closer to the reason our country is weakening than is the folks you guys seem to hate..
Where would you guess the growing income at the top comes from?... seems pretty obvious.. look at this and look at weakening wages in the last years but you guys can continue wearing your horse blinders and blaming the people st the wrong end of the scale, its a free country..

Americans don't think we have to work.........At least a certain subsection of folks.....INCLUDING my KIDS. They don't know the value of hard work and don't know what it takes to get ahead.

I'm part of the problem. I had more than my parents, and I wanted to give my kids everything. Unfortunately, doing that basically made them entitled. My youngest to some extent doesn't feel that way, but my oldest definitely thinks the world owes her something.......

I will guarantee this is not a fairy tail we are becoming closer and closer to a socialist country because of people like you with their heads in the sand drinking the kool aid.

I do not worry about people going hungry for two reasons number one it is a great motivator people would get off the dead butts and would go fill the jobs mhall needs and the churches and the communities would take care of those that are in real need. They would not be able to game the system like they do now but they would be taken care of. You see we do not need a government to take care of us from the cradle to the grave------socialism does that.

This country took care of its people for years ( some of them did struggle during the depression but they were proud people willing to work hard and many were to proud for a hand out) before the government figured out they could build an entitlement society and could enslave the poor and downtrodden to become dependent on them and they would buy their votes keeping them in power. I know it sound good when the democrats say they want to take care of the middle class however their policies do just the opposite just look how terrible the middle class has don under the BHO administration.

think what you want... We are a better country today without soup lines... What you guys advocate is more of the same... Every person in this country that works for a wage should belong to a labor union and should not feel a need to work for peanuts simply because there is a certain section who thinks the country is set up for them exclusively...
