The replica's I'm getting are way more expensive than doing a skin mount. I did a ton of research on taxidermists and Dave Campbell's (www.davecampbellfish.com) name repeatedly came up as being one of the best in the country. I have a small fortune tied up in my truck, boat and gear so what's another few grand on two mounts that I'll be able to enjoy the rest of my life. He's doing my PB smallie too (6lb 4oz) that I caught from Chick as well. Needless to say Chick is my favorite lake and I'll be spending a ton of time there the next 3-5 years...

And yes, I firmly believe in releasing trophies... I know it's the angler's right to keep them, but those are fantastic genes that are being pulled from their lakes. I watched all of my fish swim away after some pics, short videos and length and girth measurements and trust me it's an awesome feeling seeing them swim away healthy!

Dave sent me some update pics of my largemouth mount, scale detail is awesome! Most of the other replica companies out there I saw just did an overall air brush paint job and don't do the individual scale detail that Dave does....... I should have it by the end of the month, can't wait!

    Another option

Here is another option. Just send a photo of your fish and the length to my daughter Meg and she will paint it on canvas with acrylic and mail it to you. Very affordable.

Got it in yesterday, and WOW. It looks even better in person... I can't wait to see my smallie he's doing as we speak...

Mad props to Dave Campbell, his work is PHENOMINAL!!!

My largemouth made his website for an example of his "master grade" work. www.davecampbellfish.com

The first three pics are of the completed mount before he shipped it. The last pic with blue wall is her final resting spot in my office!

That is a awesome mount...definitely one of the best I have seen, details are amazing. I have a replica mount made, and though it looks good, it is no where near that good. I have a 6lb smallie I need to get done as well, just was waiting to find the right person to do it...this may be it...thanks for sharing.

    Thanks! He's definitely "the man"...

I looked into Lake Fork Taxidermy and others in the replica business, but none of them came close to Dave's "master grade" detail.
