Buckeye Lake fishing report
Written by Joe Jordan
The cold weather from last
week slowed the fishing down for a while however; the recent warming
trend has caused the fishing to pick back up.
Stripers in the 1lb to 2lb
range are being caught on chicken livers fished on the bottom around
Lieb’s Island.
Channel catfish in the 2lb to
3lb range are hitting nightcrawlers, chicken livers and shad at many
locations all around the lake.
Saugeye are plentiful but,
small. Many 6 to 8 inch saugeye are being caught on bass minnows,
crankbaits and artificial lures in rocky areas.
Crappies have once again
started hitting in the shallow areas with wood, boat docks and
vegetation. For crappie try the area around the backside of Lieb’s
Island, and in the canals throughout Thornport. Crappies are hitting
small Venom twisters, and minnows fished under bobbers in 2-4 ft of
water.
Joe just doesn’t write the
fishing reports he guides and catches them to. Check out this
exciting Fishn’ with Joe video.
