Don't know if they will be on fire but it will be over quickly if you find an active school. Refer to the striper report from last week for lots of good info. Ill be down Saturday morning trying my luck. Good luck and tight lines.

I talked with a friend of mine that lives down there and he said Tuesday night they were eating at the lodge and the stripers were busting shad everywhere out from the lodge. Hope we can get into them like that. I can usually always find some fish around Beaver creek mouth or close to Harmon creek.

In 40 some odd years of fishing cumberland i cant ever recall actually being "scared" to be on the water with other " fishermen" and i use that term with great disdain. But yesterday was in one word "DANGEROUS" ! If a gar stuck his snout 1/2 inch out of the water there were literally a dozen boats racing at breakneck speed to that spot to cast at fish that just got the living hell scated out of them. Jerry Morgan (morgans guide service) called his trip and rescheduled his people to this morning because it was getting so ridiculous and dangerous. Forum member KR couldnt even bass fish with his little boy because everytime he decided to move to another bank people would see him crank up and assume he was running to a school, they would in turn try to outrun him to the bank thereby ruining the bass fishing .....p.s . KR is a pretty good size feller....not too smart, thanks goodness he is a pretty nice feller too. This is pathetic and shameful that people would lose their minds to the point of endangering other people, children and anybody unfortunate enough to share the water with these slobs! I will be "training" alot of other people over the next few days......better have a full tank of gas ......its going to be alot of fun (for me) running to the other end of the lake with the fleet in hot pursuit.

With that report of Stripernuts you now know the fishing is terrible. I can also vouch for it my self. Fisher Monday night from about 7:30 pm to 1:30 n the morning and got one hit. Fishing for SM. I am beginning to think fish don't feed at nights n the Fall of the year. Beautiful night on Cumberland that night anyways

Old stripernut is correct it's crazy. Luckily no one has been seriously injured or killed. It looked like the striper poker run Monday night. And it's crazy cause what little jumps and I do emphasize little, are going on only last for 15-30 seconds. If u must go please use common sense and a little common courtesy while on the water.

Guess its time to invest in the 300 motor then. Wonder if momma will be ok with spending $25,000 to beat the other striper goons to the 30 second spot???

I am going to get beat up for this comment but I'm going to say it anyway and I do it with respect for everyone on this board. Way too much yaking and social media lip smacking is what has caused this and one of the main reasons I stopped doing it years ago. Go ahead call me a selfish as shole and tear me up but due to this post I had to say it outoud.
This board has been ON FIRE lately and people listen and then ......well I'll stop now.
Go ahead, attack me, I won't say another word....Sigh

I would say the time of year and locals bragging at the bait shop have more of an effect on things than this board does. People aren't skipping work in the middle of the week in order to run down to Cumberland on a rumor that there are jumps or that the fish have moved up. So it has to be primarily locals making the lake a dangerous place.

The cooler weather has people thinking about fishing and that probably has more of them out than anything else. I even brought my boat up to the house, put the top up and enclosure on just to make sure that everything was in working order for fall fishing. People know when the cool weather hits the whites, hybrids, and stripers move up and then the jumps start.

The general comments that people make on this board provide almost know information to people who don't know the lake. I know because I spent my first year striper fishing while reading this site and never once got on a school or had a bite. "Stripers have moved up down by the dam". Well the dam is almost a mile long and can be seen from at least 3 miles away. That is a lot of area to cover. Letting people know that stripers were found 20-30 feet deep over 70 feet of water isn't really giving anything away.

People are going to act stupid regardless of what is posted here. Ever since Captain Jim started his fishing report he has been telling people not to come flying into the jumps with the main motor and to respect other boaters. I have copies of his reports going back to 2006. In those reports he tells people what pattern the fish are in, a general idea of what part of the lake they can be found, and various techniques used to catch them. So the social media information available has really not changed.

I think people are excited about the lake being higher, eager to get out and fish due to the cooler weather, and they in general have just become more self centered with a lack of concern towards others.

I still plan on posting reports after my fishing my trips.
