    Talking about fishing when fishing

Knute(The Heathen) and I had a great, fun filled afternoon on the river Thursday afternoon. We caught fish, enjoyed the day and talked about fishing while we were fishing. Is that strange?

We were on a good drift pattern going back to the same starting place and drifting over a hole where we would catch a fish every drift. What do we do? We talk about the last trip to Minnesota, the trip 2 years ago to Florida, the trip to Barkley, etc. We are catching fish but talking about the past times we caught fish.

Yes to everything you said. When Chuck and I fish down there we do the same thing. We first talk about what is going on with our lives and more importantly our family. Then we talk about the world's events and how much we hate Barry, we really enjoy that part.
Then we talk about fishing...ALOT and the good ole days, thats what old guys do ya know. Then about 7ish it happens, every single last time.......FOOD becomes the major topic of discussion and we get so dang hungry doing it.
Then we tell each other how much we enjoy each other's company and then we go home......Yep thats how it rolls...

Knute(The Heathen) and I are both quit-tired pharmacists that worked for the same company. We pat ourselves on the back for leaving the work force at the right time as the company we worked for has gone to the pits.

Yes, we also discuss political things like welfare abuse and the cluster that the Affordable Health Care Act will cause.

We seldom talk about food. I usually have some peanut butter crackers and maybe some Vienna sausages (BBQ flavor) in the boat's glove box and I always have some sodas and water in the built in cooler. Once Knute is on the fish, he'd starve to death before stopping fishing. When were are up in Minnesota and out on the lake all day I have to play "I'm diabetic" card on them to get back to the house and eat something.

Knute doesn't share his feelings so he's never going to say he likes my company or friendship. Maybe a handshake when we are leaving the parking lot and we each travel our separate way home.

Most of what I talk about is fishing with one guy I go with. Another is sports, kids and old times from the army days.
Another is sports, a little politics, kids and just about anything that pops up.

To be honest...I don't mind fishing and not saying a word, just listening to nature and getting lost in the fishing and that's what I do when I'm fishing with my Lab Maxx. He doesn't say much!! If I set the hook he jumps up next to me and leans way out trying to lick the fish and then looks at me as if to say "hurry up"! He will sit there and watch the geese and sniff the air as if he is just enjoying the solitude and smells of the outdoors. I swear I think he gets it...I mean he looks as if he understands how awesome it is to be on the water.

Food doesn't come up a lot since I usually pack some food and if it gets to bad I guess we could actually order pizza and pick it up at the boathouse since I usually fish at the club in Lexington.

You guys have to remember now the Chuckster is a Chef by trade. The man makes the best Rotesserri I'm sure I spelled that wrong Chicken on planet earth. There are no words to describe it. I am a food nut and can eat more than most three human beings. If I didn't run all the time and be as active as I am I would weight 732lbs and be on the Biggest Loser, lol.

Therefore food will come up, LMAO. All we ever eat on the boat fishing though is Beff jerky. If I am fishing by myself I will starve and go thirsty as I get in the Zone and think of nothing but what I'm doing. My Wife quit fishing with me for this very reason, lol...
