    Combat shopping day at Kroger's

Combat shopping day at Kroger's almost turned in to real combat:Mrs.Tyme and I always use two carts as we separate the items each one of us need to pick up and this makes our shopping quicker.

Mrs.Tyme and I met up in the meat department and when Mrs.Tyme left my side she mistakenly starting pushing someone else's cart. Call the law!! Alert the National Guard! This old biddy started yelling and screaming like Darlene had just stolen her new born baby. I calmly told her it was just an accident and to settle down. She didn't like my polite comment at all and continued ranting and raving. That's when I said,"Listen you old gray haired biddy. I'll knock you on your ass and steal your cart if you don't shut up right now!!" She grabbed her cart and fled to the next aisle.

And yes, we are still allowed to shop at Kroger's.

I worked for Kroger for 5 years, up through my Sophomore year of college...started as a bag boy, then cashier, then Front Office Supervisor...was going into their Management Training Program when I decided that Retail Hours in the Grocery business *****.

That said, I really enjoyed my time working in the grocery store. It was a small town, you ended up getting to know half the town by name, and it was great experience for me as a young man.

I could tell stories all night long about crazy retail customers that flipped their lids...fights...chasing shoplifters...herding people into meat coolers during tornadoes...

I had this one old lady that was crazy as hell. She carried a stuffed tiger around with her and strapped it into the shopping cart. She used to come cuss me at the front office because she was convinced that I had a switch up there that controlled the traffic light that turned from the bypass into our parking lot. This was back when we had the "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" and one day she brings me up an empty carton of ice cream and says that it sucked and she wanted her money back. I gave it to her. The next week, she brings back the same ice cream, carton empty, cussed me, and said that it sucked. Wanted her money back again. I told her to take a hike, because we had already went through this once. She started cussing me again and I'd had enough...I told her that it must not have sucked that bad, because her fat ass ate it all. Needless to say, I got reprimanded by Home Office over that one. LMAO

    Good times.

But run far far away on Wednesdays.
