Last weekend my son and I took his 4 year old nephew( and my grandson)on his first boat ride and fishing trip. Launched on T-ville, worms in hand and his super Heroes life jacket buckled up tight. 30 min into the trip we are kind of easing along with the trolling motor on two. As my grandson crawls up beside my front chair, the trolling motor hits an unseen submerged stump and he just sort of somersaults overboard. That's right- a half hour into his first fishing trip, I somehow let my grandson go head first into the water.. WE had him back into the boat in less than 5 seconds, but he was soaked. He never cried and never dropped his worms. He later caught his first fish and his comment when we pulled out was "Next time let's go to Beaver Lake". Sounds good to me!

haha, not laughing at you, with you. My grandkids know my two rules in my boat, "Don't fall in and don't hook grandpa!"
Sounds like a successful memorable trip!! No one was hurt and you have some great stories that will be told hundreds of times!!! This brings back a situation I have never forgot. It is now been 61 years ago my Dad and I were returning home up Dix River after fishing one afternoon. My Dad fished out of a 14 foot Sears V with a 3 hp Evenrude. I still have the 3 hp Evenrude sitting in my basement on the orginal showroom stand it came with. We fished the Dix in those days because I was born on the bank of the Dix between Lancaster and Stanford, KY. As we were coming up the river, I was sitting on the front of the boat with my bare feet hanging in the water. Just as I heard my Dad say in the back of the boat..."You better get your feet out of the water and sit back in the boat because I may hit a stump"... that's just what happen and over I went into the river. Here's the lessen I learned that day... I was a lucky kid that did not get hit by the motor's prop as I passed under the boat. Sometimes we just don't realize the dangers that lurk when having fun.
