    Who benefits?

Listened to NPR news this morning, about the plight of un documented workers in Colorado, many can't get FEMA help, they weren't supposed to! They can't get unemployment benefits, they are not entitled to them! So why are they here[or there]? Because scoff law employers use them, and EXPECT tax payers to pay the social consequences. Is this new? Nope, in Colorado its been SOP for decades. The scoff laws don't want immigration reform. It may force them to see that there are laws that are not being followed. I'm not against immigrants, I am against illegal ones. And they are law breakers plain and simple. Do I benefit from them, don't think so. Do you?

I'm against illegal immigration too, but we all indeed do benefit from them. They'll work for less pay, and harder, than typical American workers, so they keep costs down.

    Do we?

Not that I can see. But then I'm a liberal. I think my daughter who graduated from a private university almost magna cum laude, should be paid the same as her male counter part, she isn't[she does make a good buck]. My son who graduated from a publis universary, needs to take Spanish classes to advance in his teaching career, where they have not had a raise in two years, Wher I stand in line at the fast check out lane, and watch a few Hispanics with loaded carts use food stamps. Where in need to co-pay for a hospital stay, even with my insurance, while Joses wife gets free medical care. Gee maybe I'm not as liberal as I thought. But I do know what exploit means.

I'm with you on this. I'm not sure where they help me? Unless I hire them to do work. What costs are they keeping down? Houses still costs to much for the cheap quality, cabbage prices didn't go down from being picked cheaper. Food prices are up, gas is up, construction prices are up (well that's the unions fault).

Finally....I am not a Liberal but if I ever catch that dreaded disease I'm done because it's not curable. Please please please...I wanna put down to rest quickly so as to not spew or poison my girls with socialistic, communistic, diarreaistic, unrealistic, obamaistic bull all the time.

Ohhhh never mind obamacare won't let me go if I am a potential liberal voter all I gotta do is change party affiliations work on a liberal campaign, praise Allah, blame GW on everything and I'll be living off others!!! Hmmmm maybe it ain't that bad being a know it all??? Hahahaha

Here's a good example of a multi-dimensional issue that can't be simplified to one thing. Yep, food prices are up. But you can't say, "food prices are up, therefore immigrant labor isn't keeping costs down." Food prices depend on a lot of factors. Here's a good article on that: http://www.forbes.com/sites/steveodl...rices-so-high/

I don't think there's any doubt that food prices would be even higher without immigrant labor.

They also keep wages down and help produce more people who need food stamps.

Mostly agree, but part of that equation is, without them growers just wouldn't have anyone to do the work.

I wonder if they will do that work when they are legal via amnesty? Also suspect that when that time comes there will be a Hispanic Workers Union formed to force better pay and better working conditions. Just seems like such a large group that cannot be left untapped by money hungry Unions.

You lrad a rather shallow life. Ever hear of Ceaser Chavez? The UFW union? You still believe that the tail wags the dog. Today about 6% of industrial workers are union. So like I asked who benefits. Who pays to educate the illegal off spings? who pays for their ER room sevices, who pays to deport these folks? NOT THE PEOPLE WHO BREAK THE LAW AND HIRE THEM. Interesting fact. the table grape growers fought the UFW so well, that much of our grapes are now coming from Chile. And they taste better also. I just can't see it getting any better for the young folks still in school now for their future. How many of these guys who employ illegal workers pay social security? or unemployment insurance? And last but not least, how much of the wages paid to there workers leave the USA? check it out.

Hmmmm I guess I'll leave the insult alone....but I will use the words of Roadtoad and say you can take that comment and treat it like a suppository.

They and all other illegals tax our system to the breaking point. I do feel sorry for them but not to the point that I want my tax dollars paying their bills and medical expensive. They all need to go back where they were born and stay there if they got here Illegally.

I would go further and say that any of the kids borne her to illegal parents need to be shipped back to grandmaw house in the old country if there mom just came here to pop out a kid. I guess I'm more of a conservative on this like Immigration and terrific and cheap overseas labor.
