    Red Fin

When you guys catch stripers in the jumps on a red fin are they the jointed or the straight models? I have caught some nice ones during the spring night bite on the jointed red fin. Wasn't sure if it worked on the fall jumps though?

it doesnt make any difference.....if its a good jump you really dont even have to retrieve at all, the splashing rocks the bait enough to get hammered. Other times you might need to try several different retrieves to get hooked up.

That didnt make alot of sense.....what i was getting at is if they want to eat they will hit jointed...unjointed...sitting still, moving fast etc etc.

helloe..my first post, but when the rockfish is on the jumps they will bite anything that moves...it can be ultra brite pink and they will inhale it . dont matter if its at night or day...just the timing of the fish hittin your bait is crittical

If I have to work it, I like the non jointed. Cast out. Hold the rod at 10 to 11 oclock and reel until it makes a v wave in the water. Lower the rod some as the bait gets closer to you. You will see how it works with a few casts. The times they like jointed, I just twitch it and let it sit. I actually prefer a jointed thunderstick over a jointed redfin. Jointed thundersticks also work well sub surface.

I still have ONE original strawberry little mac that I refuse to use. I don't even know if they love that thing these days. The Gizz baits do as well as the little macs did anyway for a similar presentation.

I'll take a .5 oz bucktail with a plastic split tailed spinner bait trailer in cold water (and many other times) over any other artificial. That is probably because I haven't done the fnf as of yet... LOL

I used to use Red Fins and Jr. Thundersticks back in the day. I don't need them anymore. If someone was to twist my arm into using one of them again, it would be the Jointed Jr. Thunderstick. Oh and I have plenty of both. Might have to let them go to a new home.
