    Tyme's Wednesday adventure

In advance of our annual medical appointment next week we needed to go to the doctor's office and get blood drawn for all the lab work. We should have gone yesterday but postponed due to the snow and adverse driving conditions.

I stoked up the wood stove prior to our departure and went out to start the F-150. Dang, nothing but a click. The battery is drained and I had no idea why.Just cold, I guess. I get the battery charger hooked up to it but I know that will take a while.

We really needed to get this done today so I started the little Ranger truck. It fires right up and I then start to clean off all the snow on the windshield and hood. The Ranger does not get good traction in rain, much less snow but I thought we needed to at least try. I'm having trouble getting the darn Ranger down the driveway and then once at the road, it won't make the left turn onto the road and the slight incline on the road. I'm stuck half way in the road and our driveway.

With much determination and tire spinning I get the Ranger onto the road but it won't go up the hill. I backed it down the road and attempted a running start to at least get it back onto the driveway. Success!! ALMOST !! Now I'm again stuck with the rear end hanging out on the road and the tires wildly spinning. We dug out some of the snow and put some fireplace ashes onto the wheel tracks. That maneuver resulted in me at least clearing the road and having the Ranger in the driveway.

After some more shoveling and more ashes I asked Darlene to get in the bed of the truck to put a little weight on the rear wheels. Please, no jokes about Dar's weight. She's about 140 lbs or so soaking wet. I'm then inching up the drive with the speedometer hitting 70 MPH as I crawl the truck back up the drive and finally park it.
That brought back some fond and not so fond memories of having various vehicles stuck on the path out of Panther Mountain.

I'm now back at square one and we still have not gotten to the doctor's office. I then removed a trolling motor battery from the boat and hooked up the jumper cables to the F-150. Vrooom, success, the F-150 starts up.

The trip to the doctor's office and back was uneventful.

Why didn't you jump the f-150 with the ranger battery?

The F-150 was parked under the awning of the boat barn. The Ranger would have definitely gotten stuck trying to position the batteries close enough to jump.

Jumping the F-150 from the Ranger was just not an option.
