New to site and looking for new places.

Hello Everyone. My name is Bobby and I'm from Louisville. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some new rivers or lakes for me to fish with a kayak. I have done some online research, but hardly fish outside of a 80 mile radius of louisville. I was wanting to try to catch a musky this year, but really can't pin point a river I want to go to yet. I catch and release all fish and only take photos, unless I'm hungry for some bluegills or crappies. I just would like to catch some gamefish other than bass. I don't really feel comfortable taking my kayak to cumberland, but have fished there. I was just wondering what you guys would suggest. Thanks, Bobby.

Bob ... you might consider Green River Lake for Muskie, Crappie, Walleye, etc.

You might also try Cedar Creek for Crappie, Rainbow Trout, & Redear (Shellcracker).

And there's Taylorsville for Hybrid Stripers & White Bass, & Crappie.

Check on any lakes in the Ville area that are designated as FINS lakes. They're stocked with Rainbow Trout, Channel Catfish, and some may even have Hybrid Bluegill stocked in them.

Try the Barren River below the dam. There are creek mouths between the dam and Bowling Green that hold some very nice musky. Smallmouth is good, and the possibility of Sauger and Walleye are there as well. It's a pretty trip.

Don't forget about the ky river on frankfort. It can produce very nice musky and has several places to put in. If your down this way elkhorn creek is a tremendous smallmouth fishery. Good luck!
