    what size swimbait

Opener of fishing season here in Wi is coming up IF the ice ever leaves the lake. My lake I live on has huge smallies in it. I want to catch smallies this spring on swimbaits and jerk baits like i did in Dale Hollow, What size swimbait di you think would be right? What size jerkbait and color. I have a open invite to anybody that would love catching smallies till your arm hurts to come up and try Wi fishing out. I`ve got a 2 br house on Stone Lake Wi. WE live with in 10 miles of a bunch of class A musky lakes too...the fishing is awsome!

I've always heard "it's not the color of the jerkbait but how you use it" which to some degree is true. But if I throw a neon pink jerkbait I probably won't have as much luck as if I'm throwing a clown color or a silver ow white. From what you've said id throw a rapala X-rap stickbait. Only about the 3in model. And swim bait I'm not sure because I don't fish them much. But I do have some very nice looking cabelas real image HDS swim baits somewhere in my pile of junk as my mom would say . They make the bluegill shape and the shad shape. Each have a bout 10 different color options. They run at about $5.99 a piece and look amazing for the price. These are hard jointed swim baits but if you want something soft id look at reflexion swim baits. It's $7.99 for a pair but they are hand poured and give an AMAZING action. Be careful on which ones you buy because there are two styles for two different rigging choices. I'd look into both. Hope this helps, drew

Big Hammer..........3 and 4 inch...........smallie chaser, sexy smelt, baby bass, and rainbow trout. The pearl are not bad either.

Use the heaviest head necessary to get you down and keep decent contact with DEPTH.

Throw it out.......let it hit the bottom and slow, slow, slow crank it back......start/stop. Let it drift back to the bottom.....repeat. WAIT for the rod to load up, and then cross their eyes.

    Later,

Ive used the sexy smelt and pearl. It seems I catch more with the pearl. I reckon just because I'm more confident when I use it.
